Meet The Founder
Well, Howdy Do... and Welcome!
I'm so happy you're here.
I am Rev. Deloris-Marie Foster, and before anything else, I am a student of the I AM and a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
For more than forty years, the Good Lord has placed within my heart a calling to encourage, strengthen, and inspire others through prayer, Sacred Soul Meditations, music, and the spoken word. Although I am now retired, I shall never retire from striving to be in the Divine Service of the Light and seeking each day to walk in the footsteps of Jesus Christ.
This website is more than a collection of meditations, music, and writings. It is the outpouring of a lifetime of faith, prayer, service, joy, struggle, and the unfailing goodness of Almighty God.
It is my prayer that every person who visits here will discover renewed peace, hope, strength, and joy—and above all, a deeper awareness of God's loving Presence.
A Little Country Girl with a Big Calling
I am just a country girl from the hills of West Virginia.
Although my life has taken me far beyond those mountains, the mountains have never left me.
They taught me faith long before I understood all the ways the Good Lord would lead me. They taught me humility, perseverance, gratitude, and the quiet strength of ordinary people who trusted God through hardship as well as blessing.
I still carry within me the sounds of little country churches, front porches, mountain roads, coal country, family gatherings, heartfelt prayer, and the sacred stories of people whose lives quietly reflected God's grace.
Those roots are part of everything I create.
A Vision That Never Left Me
One of the deepest memories of my life came when I was only four years old.
The Good Lord blessed me with a Sacred Vision that has remained with me throughout my entire life.
I saw myself dressed in white, standing beneath a magnificent oak tree whose roots spread deep into the earth. Before me stood people from many races and walks of life. They were smiling, filled with joy, and listening as I spoke.
That vision appeared to me three more times as an adult.
Years later, a man I barely knew came to me and described that very same vision after dreaming it himself.
I have never forgotten it.
It has followed me all my life, and I have followed it. Never far from my memory, through the years, I have carried it quietly in my heart and seen it in my mind's eye.
Today, I believe that vision is unfolding through this ministry.
Whether through Legacy Story Songs, Sacred Soul Meditations, Sacred Soul Music, Front Porch Wisdom, or simply sharing words of hope and encouragement, my desire is to help people draw closer to God and discover the peace, wisdom, strength, and love that are found in Him.
The Proving Ground
Looking back over my life, I now understand that God did not waste a single season.
Every season was preparing me for His purpose.
One of the greatest proving grounds of my life came during my years of public service.
As a young woman, I had the privilege of serving more than five million people throughout Chicago and 114 surrounding communities as a County Commissioner. I helped establish public policy and administer an annual budget of more than eight hundred million dollars while serving in one of Illinois' largest governmental bodies.
It was also a governmental body known for frequent scandals and corruption.
Outnumbered eight to one, I often stood alone against some of the most powerful forces in business and government in Illinois and the nation. There were times I was afraid. Sometimes my voice shook when I spoke, but I spoke anyway. I was only in my twenties, while many of the Commissioners around me were in their forties, fifties, and sixties, seasoned in power, politics, and the ways of the political machine.
But before I ever entered the boardroom, I had already entered the Throne Room through prayer.
I prayed for wisdom.
I prayed for courage.
I prayed that Almighty God would guide my words.
I prayed that His holy angels would stand beside me.
And they did.
Time after time, when I stood to speak, I witnessed a Power greater than my own. So did those who watched the proceedings, for the very atmosphere of the boardroom was filled with the sacred, unseen Presence and Power of Almighty God.
What people witnessed was remarkable to them and to me. Major newspapers carried photographs of me pointing across the boardroom during debate while the Commissioners I challenged covered their faces or turned away under the weight of truth. One Black newspaper even placed such a photograph on its front page with a headline so bold that it revealed just how fiercely the battle had been joined.
Some began calling me "Joan of Arc."
One newspaper compared me to Zenobia, the Great Queen of Palmyra.
I accepted those comparisons with humility because I knew the courage they saw was never mine alone.
It belonged to Almighty God, whose holy messengers and unseen help stood beside me fighting my battles.
That is why my greatest honor was to be called a "Miracle-Minded" Master by a prominent Chicago pastor and his congregation. They witnessed the miracles that unfolded during those meetings. They saw and felt God's Presence in the Board Room just as I did.
This was the proving ground where I came to know the Power of God.
It was there that my faith was no longer simply something I believed. It became something I knew.
It was there that I learned no title, position, or earthly authority could protect me. Only the Presence of Almighty God could sustain me, strengthen me, and make a way when there seemed to be no way. From that day forward, I never again doubted the Power of Almighty God nor His abiding Presence with me.
Looking back now, I understand that every life has its proving ground. It is often there—in our greatest trials—that we discover God's greatest power, His unfailing Presence, and His everlasting love.
A Lifetime of Preparation
From childhood I have loved words.
Speaking.
Writing.
Poetry.
Storytelling.
Music.
Books.
Prayer.
Encouragement.
Through the years I have written books, created stories, performed on stages across America, received grants for my storytelling, and shared messages in churches, libraries, museums, schools, festivals, and community gatherings.
At the time, I thought these were simply different chapters of my life.
Today I understand they were all preparing me for this ministry.
Today those experiences flow into Legacy Story Songs, Sacred Soul Meditations, Sacred Soul Music, Front Porch Wisdom, and every message the Good Lord places upon my heart.
The Lord has also given me the privilege of helping families preserve their treasured histories through custom Legacy Story Songs. Every family has a story. Every community has a heritage. Every life leaves footprints upon the earth. Creating Legacy Story Songs is one more way of honoring those memories and preserving them for generations yet to come.
My Greatest Love
At the center of everything I do is my greatest love—
The Good Lord.
Everything I create flows from my desire to serve Him, encourage others, and help people discover the peace that comes from walking with Jesus Christ.
Every meditation...
Every song...
Every written word...
Every prayer...
is offered with gratitude to the One who first called me and has faithfully walked beside me through every season of my life.
If something you find here strengthens your faith, comforts your heart, or helps you draw closer to God, then this ministry has fulfilled its purpose.
Thank you for taking the time to visit.
I pray that you will return often.
May the peace of God surround you.
May the love of Jesus Christ sustain you.
May His Light guide your path.
And may you always know that you are deeply loved.
With love and every blessing,
Rev. Deloris-Marie Foster
